Haskel’s GENO compression systems provide a turnkey compression solution to meet the growing demands of hydrogen refueling, production and storage facilities. At the heart of the GENO system are two high performance and hydraulically operated Haskel H-Drive compressors that provide oil free hydrogen for pressures up to 950 bar.
The system is housed inside of a specially converted 20ft shipping container that includes all safety, ventilation and control systems to provide safe, seamless operation and integration within a range of different applications.
Key features
- Standard, turn key solution, housed within a 20ft container
- Integrated compressed air system for pneumatic valve actuation
- Suitable for outlet pressures pressures of up to 950 bar
- Flexible inlet supply pressure ranging between 15 and 500 bar to support various gas inlet sources, such as onsite electrolyzer, tube trailer or manifold cylinder pack (MCP).
- Installation, maintenance and service support packages provide peace of mind across the life of the GENO system.
Technical Information
Hydrogen Compression for Tube Trailers
The GENO compression system utilizes Haskel’s hydraulically operated H-Drive hydrogen compressor to enable output pressures of up to 950 bar. Greater energy density supports high-pressure hydrogen storage for tube trailer applications.
Gaseous hydrogen can be compressed and transferred into long tube-like cylinders that are stacked onto a trailer to be hauled by trucks for easy transportation. Steel or composite cylinders are often bundled together into packs known as manifolded cylinder packs (MCPs) and delivered to site on the back of a truck or hydrogen Tube Trailer.
Once transported between sites, Hydrogen is then taken from the Tube Trailer and used as an energy source at a specific location, either for hydrogen-fueled vehicles or to power wider manufacturing processes.
H-Drive Compression Technology
At the heart of the GENO system is Haskel’s market-leading, hydraulically operated H-Drive compression technology.
The H-Drive gas booster can compress hydrogen up to 950 bar, making it the perfect choice for high pressure hydrogen compression and hydrogen storage solutions. |
The advanced design of Haskel’s H-Drive booster delivers supreme efficiency, reliability and robustness. The compressor uses a piston instead of a diaphragm to reduce the volume of hydrogen. This is because diaphragm compressors have complicated start/stop procedures and higher CAPEX requirements. What is more, a diaphragm rupture or failure may lead to an oil leak.

Hydrogen Testing Capabilities
Haskel has manufacturing facilities in Burbank, California and Sunderland, England with dedicated teams dispersed across the globe and at both sites.
Haskel’s UK-based Hydrogen Test Facility has recently benefited from major investment, boosting the site’s operating capacity and upgrading its hydrogen test equipment.
